Connecting Women (and men/youths) to Trades – Free-Funded Maritime Training (2)!

We are starting to wrap up our wonderfully successful 2023 program and organising about our 23/24 program. Already we have a list of people interested in our Connecting Women (and men/youths) to Trades – Free-Funded Maritime Training!

What is it about?

The NSW Government proudly sponsor this initiative and asked us to run an additional program (we actually started in 2022, so this really will be our third program. Each time it is getting bigger and better.

The next program begins at the end of November.

Introduction Event

We are organising an event where you can come along and meet the SisterShip Training team, meet previous participants of the program, and even say g’day to some maritime professionals. We have something incredibly exciting lined up, so get your Expressions of Interest (EOI) in quickly. Pencil in the 12th November (tbc) and let us know you’d like to come. Spaces are limited.

What will I learn?

A lot, with a lot of support. Here’s a bit more about SisterShip Training, click here.

As part of the program we do accredited and non-accredited training. The accredited training is the Safety Skills Set, 4 modules that every mariner, at every level must have. So it is a great way to kick off your maritime career. The non-accredited units are aligned with accredited training (ie on the same level), and should you go on to further study you (1) have a reduction in the cost (of further study) and (2) have a great advantage, so it will be much easier!

Sailing!

You also get to spend time on our luxury Beneteau! Click here for more information on our training vessel (this website is still a work in progress). We try to do a lot of practical training, after all if you work on a boat it is a practical job. But there will be theory sessions, you do need to make a commitment to attend as much as possible. If you put the work in, you will be amazed at the results, fun, and knowledge you will accumulate. Those who become passionate about a maritime career receive unsurpassed support.

Check out the photos (scroll down), to see what we get up to. Then come along to our introductory event and meet previous participants.

Training for Women (and everyone!)

As a woman I have been a huge supporter of women in maritime for a long time. I’ve created a suite of courses that, as a woman, I couldn’t find. It’s not just about the information, it is the ‘why’, the back story, the reasoning. It is providing skills to work out how to do things, techniques for solving problems. And that is why women (and many men) like our training and our program participants go on to further maritime training.

More information

You can chat to us anytime for more information, but please read about our previous programs here first. And if you do call, leave a message if we can’t get to the phone (we are training most days), and we’ll get back to you as soon as we can. Alternatively, email jackie@sistershiptraining.com   (0458 391 660) – there is no such thing as a silly question, so don’t hesitate to call or email.
