Real-world training for people who want clarity, confidence, and calm on the water

SisterShip Training is built for recreational sailors and boaters who want to understand what they are doing, not just follow instructions. Our approach focuses on fundamentals first, practical skills that make sense in real situations, and learning without pressure or overwhelm.

We teach what actually matters on the water, then build skill by skill, so confidence grows naturally.

Our approach is simple

We believe there is no such thing as a silly question.
And we believe encouragement matters more than criticism.

Too many people are made to feel inadequate when learning boating skills. We do the opposite. We create a supportive environment where people can ask questions, practice safely, and build real understanding at their own pace.

Learning should feel empowering, not intimidating.

Why our training feels different

We teach fundamentals, not shortcuts
Confidence does not come from memorising procedures. It comes from understanding why things work the way they do. We focus on core skills that transfer across boats, conditions, and situations.

We combine recreational and commercial experience
Our training is shaped by decades on the water, both professionally and recreationally. That means the skills we teach are practical, realistic, and suited to everyday boaters, not just textbook scenarios.

We value calm decision-making
Good seamanship is rarely dramatic. It is about recognising patterns early, making measured decisions, and knowing when to slow things down. That mindset runs through everything we teach.

We respect how people actually learn
Many of our students are learning later in life or returning to boating after a break. We design our courses to build confidence quickly, without overload, and without making people feel like beginners forever.

Built from real experience, not generated content

Our courses are created and taught by us, based on decades of real-world sailing, training, and decision-making on the water.

We do not generate any of our course content using artificial intelligence. Every lesson, explanation, and example comes from lived experience, tested offshore and refined through teaching real people.

That matters, because boating is not theoretical. Context, judgement, and nuance cannot be automated. We teach the things you actually need to know, explained in plain language, because we have had to rely on these skills ourselves.

Experience you can trust, without ego

Between us, we bring decades of commercial and recreational maritime experience, including circumnavigating the globe one and a half times and training skippers at every level.

More importantly, we know how to translate that experience into clear, practical teaching that makes sense to real people on real boats.

Safety as confidence, not fear

We are deeply committed to safety, but we do not teach it through alarm or worst-case scenarios. True safety comes from understanding, preparation, and calm responses.

When people know the fundamentals, they make better decisions, communicate more clearly, and enjoy their time on the water far more.

That is the kind of safety that lasts.

If this sounds like how you want to learn

If you are looking for training that is practical, supportive, and grounded in real experience, you are in the right place.

We would love to help you build the skills and confidence to enjoy boating safely and fully.
