Our Panellist: Leicia McKillop: Owner Pambula Oyster Company
In the heart of the Sapphire Coast, a unique tale of adventure and determination unfolded when Leicia McKillop, along with her husband Mark, embarked on the Pambula Oyster Co. journey in 2014. In a bold move, the pair bid farewell to their conventional jobs and invested their life savings into an oyster farm, seeking a simpler, more enjoyable life for their family.
The transition from a career drilling oil wells to oyster farming might seem unconventional, but for Leicia, it was serendipity at play. A chain of events, connecting acquaintances and coincidences, led them to Pambula Lake. Fuelled by their love for oysters and a passion for the sea, they embraced the challenge with unwavering determination.
Nine years later, what once appeared as a reckless sea change has become their reality. Living and working on the water, cultivating and sharing their love for oysters, Leicia has found her true home. Her story is a testament to following one’s heart, embracing challenges, and finding fulfillment in unexpected places.
