Please note: The Office of Maritime Communications requires 2-3 business days’ notice fomr us, to arrange your assessment.
How the Process Works:
- Study at Your Own Pace: Complete the online course at your convenience (usually takes about 4 hours).
- Book Your Revision & Assessment: Schedule a session with one of our experienced trainers.
- Licence Application: We handle the application for you! All you need to do is send us a passport photo, complete the application form (which we provide), and pay the $89 processing fee to the Office of Maritime Communications.
Application & Photo Requirements for OMC
Ensure that you complete the entire form and email it back to us. This includes ticking the boxes, providing your OMC payment receipt number, and all your personal details. Your passport photo must meet the standard requirements (digital and similar to a passport photo). If the OMC rejects any documentation or photos, you’ll be required to resubmit everything directly to them. Their processing times are around 3 weeks, but improper submissions can significantly delay the process.

Practical Assessment Details:
We’ve trained and assessed hundreds of students for Marine Radio Licencing over the years, both recreational and commercial. With over 20 years of experience in marine radio, we make the assessment process as stress-free as possible. There’s no need to worry our course and revision process ensure you’re fully prepared!
During the assessment, you’ll be required to:
- Answer practical questions about radio usage.
- Make a MayDay call (a script is provided below).
- Demonstrate your understanding of Radio Calling Procedures.

Exam Format:
As per the Office of Maritime Communications (OMC) guidelines, the exam is multiple-choice and closed book.
- LROCP Qualification: 1-hour duration
- SROCP Qualification: 30-minute duration
- A 70% pass rate is required.
