Short-notice spaces are now open for Coxswain Grade 1, Coxswain Grade 2, and Elements of Shipboard Safety (ESS).
All courses are nationally accredited and meet Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) standards, preparing you for your Certificate of Competency (CoC).

⚓ Coxswain Grade 1 Near Coastal
MAR20321 – Certificate II in Maritime Operations
Price: $3,390
Qualify to command and operate commercial vessels up to 12 metres long with inboard engines ≤ 500 kW (or any outboard power) in near-coastal waters.

MARF060 – Apply basic survival skills in the event of vessel abandonment
MARF028 – Follow procedures to minimise and fight fires on board a vessel
MARF029 – Meet work health and safety requirements
MARF030 – Survive at sea using survival craft
MARC037 – Operate inboard and outboard motors
MARI003 – Comply with regulations to ensure safe operation of a vessel up to 12 metres
MARJ006 – Follow environmental work practices
MARK007 – Handle a vessel up to 12 metres
MARN008 – Apply seamanship skills aboard a vessel up to 12 metres
MARB027 – Perform basic servicing and maintenance of main propulsion unit and auxiliary systems
MARC038 – Operate main propulsion unit and auxiliary systems
MARH013 – Plan and navigate a passage for a vessel up to 12 metres
HLTAID011 – Provide first aid (not included – students must supply current evidence)
Sea-Service Requirements
– 150 days qualifying sea service on vessels ≥ 5 m (recreational or commercial) — no task book, or
– 30 days on commercial vessels ≥ 5 m and a completed approved task book.
Sea service must be gained independently.

– First Aid (HLTAID011): $150 if needed
– Marine Radio Licence (SROCP / LROCP): $99 if needed

MAR10424 – Certificate I in Maritime Operations
Price: $2,390
Operate smaller commercial vessels up to 12 metres, typically in sheltered waters, or work as crew on larger vessels.

Essential safety training for anyone working on commercial vessels:
– Sea Survival × 2 (MARF060, MARF030)
– Fire Fighting (MARF028)
– Work Health & Safety (MARF029)
The Elements of Shipboard Safety (ESS) course provides the essential safety units required for all professional mariners, including survival, fire-fighting, and workplace safety at sea. Once you’ve completed these units, you don’t need to repeat them in future maritime studies — as long as your qualifications and sea experience remain current.

📜 AMSA Recognition
All courses align with AMSA standards. Once training, sea service, medical, first aid, and radio licence are complete, you can apply for your Coxswain Grade 1 or 2 Near Coastal Certificate of Competency.
