Accredited First Aid Course

Nationally Recognised Units of Competence
Upon successful completion of all assessments and full attendance at the course,
participants will be awarded HLTAID011 Provide First Aid and HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) 

Provide First Aid is the minimum requirement for workplace first aid compliance.
In this course, you will learn the skills and knowledge to be able to provide first aid response and life support, manage casualties, the incident, and other first aiders, until qualified emergency help arrives at the scene of the incident.

HLTAID011 Provide First Aid is trained in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines.

Important

Students attending the course will be required to demonstrate their physical ability to perform at least 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on an adult manikin placed on the floor, to meet the performance criteria for assessment.

Course Title:Provide First Aid
Mode of Delivery:e-Learning plus face-to-face classroom training and assessment
This is a blended course with:
(1) Self-paced online learning from the comfort of your own home, and
(2) Face-to-face assessment. Before attending the face-to-face training, students will need to complete the online learning. This can be completed over several sessions.
Duration:

Depending on the student’s learning ability, they should allow up to 4-6 hours for the online component (reading and quizzes).

The face-to-face assessment takes around 2-4 hours in a classroom environment in Brogo, the Bega Valley, NSW. (Depending on numbers).

Certificate Valid:

HLTAID011 Provide First Aid valid for 3 years from the date of course completion

HLATID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation valid for 1 year from the date of course completion

  • CPR techniques on adults, children and infants
  • incident reporting
  • how to properly assess an emergency situation

First Aid and CPR courses

HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) course covers the knowledge and skills required to provide CPR, manage and assess an emergency situation, use an automatic external defibrillator (AED), understand DRSABCD, and the First Aider’s legal responsibilities.

Provide CPR is trained and assessed in line with Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines.

Annual renewal of CPR certification is recommended

This course covers skills and knowledge in the following areas:

  • Recognise and assess an emergency situation
  • Ensure safety for self, bystanders and casualty
  • Assess the casualty and recognise the need for cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
  • Seek assistance from emergency services
  • Perform CPR in accordance with the ARC guidelines
  • Display respectful behaviour towards casualty
  • Operate an automated external defibrillator (AED) according to manufacturers’ instructions
  • Accurately convey incident details to emergency services Report details of incident in line with appropriate workplace or site procedures
  • Maintain privacy and confidentiality of information in line with statutory or organisational policies
  • Recognise the possible psychological impacts on self and other rescuers and seek help when required
  • Contribute to a review of the first aid response as required
